What do you understand by pterygium?
Pterygium is actually a non- cancerous growth which develops on mucous membrane or conjunctiva which covers white part of the eye. It is a non- cancerous or benign growth which is shaped just like a wedge. This type of corneal disorders is common among people having exposure to wind and sunlight. This means that exposure to sandy, dusty, sunny and windblown areas are some risk factors of pterygium.

Use of artificial tears can keep your eyes moist and help in preventing pterygium because of inflammatory sensation in the eyes. Mild- steroid eye- drop can also be used for calming inflammation. Surgical treatments can also be used for removing growth is this corneal disorder blocks your vision.
